Mobile App for Android and iOS

From time to time we are asked if Meadows experiments are suitable for running on mobile devices. We usually discourage this as it is hard to make sure that things look right on mobile browsers. However as the question comes up more often and more researchers involve participants that prefer to take part on their phone or tablet, we have started developing a mobile app for participants. It's currently in an early stage and only a few of our tasks are compatible. We'd love to get your input on what we should focus our effort on next (see Get Involved).

Compatible Tasks as of August 2023

  • Information
  • Consent
  • Dynamic Form
  • Label

Some general principles

  • The app targets iOS and Android devices such as smartphones and tablets
  • Probably not every task would make sense on mobile
  • Tasks may look different or be structured differently but would have the same customizability
  • Existing experiments with supported Tasks would run as well as new ones
  • We apply the same high standards for participant privacy and anonymity

Preview

Your experiment page now has a button "Preview (app)" that leads to a page that will display a simulator to approximate what your experiment would look like in the app. This preview works best on the Chrome or Chromium-based browsers.

Trying it out

The app is currently in closed testing, but in the future we'll post a link to it here, when it becomes available for open testing.

Get Involved

We'd love to get your input during the app development. We're ofcourse always open to questions and tips. But we believe that if we prototype the app for a specific real-world experiment, it will be even more optimized for researcher's requirements. So if you have a project in mind that would be well suited, in the sense that it would require testing on mobile devices and will be in a piloting phase for several weeks or longer, please get in touch. Simply send an email to jasper at meadows-research.com to get the conversation started.
