Consent Task

The Consent task is a simple form with which you can ask the participant to agree to the terms of your experiment. These can include their confirmation that they understand any risks involved, and agree to you collecting their data on Meadows. Such an agreement is often legally required and may have been defined by your institution's Ethical Review Board or Committee.

You would usually include this as one of the first tasks of your experiment. The participant can only continue the experiment if they tick all the clauses of the consent form.

Parameters

Customize the Consent form by changing these on the Parameters tab of the task.

Consent main text

This is the main body of text that you can display during the task at the top of the page. You can use the toolbar to format the text.

Fullscreen button

This option determines whether to display a button in the bottom toolbar that participants can use to switch fullscreen mode on and off.

Terms

Each of the elements you add here will be presented with a checkbox below the main text.

Warning

Since every experiment is different, and both the experimenters and participants are from varying jurisdictions, it is your responsibility as experimenter to ensure that you obtain the proper consent from your participant with regard to your jurisdiction, and your institution's requirements, including permission to store the data you collect from them.

Data

For general information about the various structures and file formats that you can download for your data see Downloads. For the consent tasks specifically, you can see a list of the terms you defined (and that the participant has therefore agreed to if they have finished the task) in the tree download format. Here is an example of the terms variable that you can find in that file:

"terms": ["my first term", "another term"]
